This issue brief focuses China's role in the "Bangladesh, China, India, Myanmar Forum for Regional Cooperation" (BCIM). The author argues that the contemporary environment is most conducive to BCIM’s aims and that, even though India is yet to fully resolve its dilemmas regarding its Northeast and its 'Look east' policy, there is a greater willingness to examine new ways to engage the region. China, too, has learnt that it needs to pay greater attention - and to be more sensitive—to the key concerns of its neighbors.
