This issue brief examines China and its role as an important factor in India-Sri Lanka relations. The author describes the extent of Chinese involvement in Sri Lanka ranging from infrastructure development, economic aid, and oil exploration, to investments, trade, and a strong diplomatic support to the island state when in need. He also believes, India is not panicking about China's footprint, but is concerned about the strategic implications and the possible use of infrastructure put in place by China against Indian interests.
