This brief explores the possibilities for a new security architecture in the Gulf region mainly from the point of view of India. The author argues that countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) should take the lead in such a structure, building on the security-related dialogue architecture created by ASEAN through its Dialogue Partners network, as well as involving other Asian countries who have increasing interests in the region.
