This brief explores different ways of ensuring reconciliation between the various ethnic groups in Myanmar. According to the author, the biggest step towards reconciliation would be a change in the mind set of the majority Burmans towards other ethnic groups. He also recommends that the 2008 Constitution should be scrapped or drastically revised to form a federal set up, perhaps based on an ethnic or linguistic basis, with a proportional representation similar to India’s.
