This issue examines escalating conflicts in Ivory Coast, Libya and Nigeria. The authors identify the extent of violence, the major groups involved and the geographical distribution of conflict in these countries. Ongoing conflicts in Sudan and Somalia are also analyzed. Specific attention is given to examining the dominant media and political narrative which suggests that Somalia is on the road to recovery. From this, the authors highlight the major patterns of conflict on the Horn of Africa.
