Despite earning leadership roles during the revolutions of the Arab Spring, women in the affected countries have been pushed back into the private sphere where their ability to make systemic change is significantly constrained. This brief argues that these women should direct the tenacity and courage they exhibited during the revolutions towards creating permanent places for themselves in high government office, political party leadership, media, and civil society.
