This paper looks at the unemployment situation of the Basotho people in Lesotho and consequent illegal migration in the region. At least one in five Basotho people are unemployed and in search of jobs. The author argues that because of the unemployment situation, many Basotho have sought alternative employment opportunities in other countries, particularly in South Africa.
