This working paper examines the UK political debate surrounding the Trident nuclear weapons system. It describes the opinions voiced by the various British political parties on the nuclear weapon program and on whether the existence of nuclear weapons make the UK safer, less safe or make no difference in terms of the security challenges the country faces.
