This brief discusses China's political, economic, territorial, and security relations with North Korea. It suggests that although China remains North Korea's most important ally as well as its biggest trade partner, differences between the two are growing. The author concludes that China is showing discomfort with North Korea's nuclear and missile program. Its influence on North Korea is also waning.
