This paper argues that Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) have a direct impact on the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and presents five strategies for their prevention and control. These include preventive chemotherapy (PCT), intensified case-management, vector control, safe water, sanitation and hygiene, and veterinary public health.
