This brief analyzes the changing social dynamics in Ladakh, a region of India located in the state of Jammu-Kashmir that is inhabited by people of Indo-Aryan and Tibetan descent. In times of flux and uncertainty, these people have typically taken refuge in their religion, which different actors have sought to entangle in local politics and the communal clashes that commonly accompany them. That is why the brief suggests that the people of this region should find a political voice of their own and work to build communal networks without religious divides.
