This paper argues that the post-2015 development framework should include Millennium Development Ideals which put the high aspirations citizens of the world’s countries have for their well-being into measurable form. Standing alone, low bar targets like those in the existing MDG agenda, push development approaches toward aims that seek to improve the less-well off by moving them nearer to average levels. However, this paper suggests that levels of well-being for those in the middle of middle income countries are also inadequate and need to be addressed.
