This paper examines Russian-Ukrainian relations and what their impact might be on the EU. It specifically argues that Moscow’s heavy-handed approach towards Kyiv presents Brussels with the opportunity to increase its levels of influence and cooperation with the eastern state. Two ways to facilitate the latter would be to accept Ukraine into the EU and help reduce its gas dependence on Russia.
