This policy brief examines the challenges facing the small scale fisheries sector in Mozambique. The author says that efforts to combat these challenges have thus far focused on strengthening the fishermen's access to markets, credit, and technology. He argues that the government and those involved in the management of the fisheries sector also need to focus on ensuring the sustainability of the country's fish stocks and the resilience of small scale fishing communities.
