This study analyzes the legal, political, and economic implications of discovering hydrocarbons in the Eastern Mediterranean for Cyprus. It first outlines the significance of these natural resource findings for the island state and then examines the legal framework of maritime delineation in the region. Focusing on the positions and export options of the parties involved in the dispute over hydrocarbons, the paper concludes with a range of recommendations for resolving the disputes.
