This analysis focuses on the most recent efforts to craft a Final Status Agreement between the Israelis and Palestinians. It concludes, despite encouraging signs, that a lasting peace agreement will only be possible if 1) US President Barack Obama fully commits to it, 2) if the expectations surrounding a possible deal are suitably moderated, and 3) if Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu decides to take advantage of the excellent negotiating position Israel currently enjoys.
