This working paper uses data on the lifelong earnings of individuals active in the labor market (primarily in Europe) to analyze the links between age, productivity and human capital. The authors try to find explanations for the existing differences between the age-earnings profiles of the examined countries. They then estimate the impact of lifelong learning on productivity, as measured by earnings, and conclude that participation in training for employees aged 50+ increases wages in the short-term.
