This paper examines the national and private initiatives which allow the elderly to continue participating in the Finnish labor market. The authors find that although Finland lags behind in some areas, there is strong evidence that the country generally provides good institutional conditions for active aging. They conclude that, while many of the reforms implemented in Finland seem to be favorable and transferable, a reluctance to shift attitudes proves that organizing active aging is a long-term project.
