This brief discusses Russia’s Asia-Pacific strategy and its relations with China and other countries in the region. The author argues that the West’s neglect of Russia in the post-Soviet period led it to look East and specifically towards the Asia-Pacific region. He goes on to say that while Russia’s relations with China have flourished, its relationship with other countries in Southeast and East Asia have failed to take off.
