In order to explore key aspects of violence in the Democratic republic of Congo (DRC), this report examines in turn the M23 rebel group in North and South Kivu, the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) in northern DRC and the evolving dynamics of Mayi Mayi violence across the country. It then discusses MONUSCO’s efforts to maintain a fragile peace in the country, and developments in the on-going low-intensity conflict in Orientale and Katanga.
