This journal addresses a wide variety of different topics on the nature of conflict with a particular focus on counter-insurgency and the changing character of warfare. Some of the other areas covered in this issue include 1) organized crime and drug trafficking gangs in Latin America, 2) Sino-Japanese relations and the balance of power in the Pacific region, 3) Al-Shabaab terrorism in Kenya, and 4) US use of hard and soft power.
