This paper examines how an urban dimension can be integrated into the development framework which is set to replaces the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) once they expire in 2015. After analyzing urban poverty trends and their implications for the design of a new set of goals, the author looks at how the MDGs and existing post-2015 proposals incorporate the urban dimension. She also proposes five steps towards a new framework that specifically tackles poverty in urban areas.
