This paper talks about research on remittances, payments, and development and argues that researchers should change the way they perceive them. Indeed, the authors say that rather than considering remittances as a windfall income, researchers should see them as a part of the financial management methods within poor households and as a return on investment. They then consider a number of research questions that follow on from considering remittances as a return on investment.
