This brief assesses the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) index on the global state of nuclear materials security. After briefly outlining the history of this initiative, the author provides a critique of the index and then talks about India's performance in nuclear materials security as determined by the NTI. He ends the piece by talking about what sort of nuclear material security policy he thinks India should pursue in relation to the recommendations of the NTI.
