This journal addresses a wide variety of different topics on the nature of conflict with a particular focus on counter-insurgency and the changing character of warfare. This issue includes articles on 1) the working relationship between policy makers and intelligence analysts; 2) Pakistan's alleged use of the Taliban as a proxy force to destabilize Afghanistan; 3) the importance of engaging with local actors as part of a counterinsurgency strategy; 4) the case for a broader definition of Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) in the US military; and 5) a study on perceptions of law enforcement officers on the nature of cross-border violence between the US and Mexico.
