Drawing on findings from the 2013 Afrobarometer survey, this brief discusses unemployment in Zambia. The paper begins by clarifying concepts of unemployment in Zambia and then outlines the official method of measuring unemployment in the country. This measure of unemployment is then contrasted with perceptions of Zambians on their employment status. The paper reveals, among other findings, that the official definitions of employment/unemployment do not reveal the true extent of unemployment, particularly regarding labor force participation.
