This paper relies on the findings of a 2012 Afrobarometer survey to examine Ghanaian attitudes toward political accountability and the roles citizens should play in promoting and developing this particular norm. In fulfilling these goals, the paper also explores five key aspects of political accountability -- associational activity and local political participation; citizen engagement with the state; access to information; accountability and responsibility; and perceptions of corruption.
