This brief uses the Kilamba Kiaxi flagship project to analyze the use of ‘resources for infrastructure’ loans by Chinese companies to construct satellite towns in Angola. The author argues that despite their invaluable immediate contribution to solving housing problems, Chinese-built satellite towns face a number of challenges that may affect their sustainability in the medium to long term.
