This paper discusses seabed mining exploration, its impact on the environment and potential conflict with other industries, particularly fisheries. The author especially looks at Namibia's experience, where opposition by environmental groups and the country’s fishing industry led to a moratorium on proposed seabed mining of phosphates in the country.
