This journal features articles that address a wide variety of different topics on the nature of conflict, with a particular focus on counter-insurgency and the changing character of warfare. Some of the topics covered in this issue include problems associated to historical interpretation in relations between China, Japan, and South Korea; the use of submarines by gangs in drug trafficking; transitional justice mechanisms in Sierra Leone and Mozambique; and the impact increasing US shale oil production could have on the country's military strategy.
