The author of this paper looks at African-led initiatives in the area of resource governance and argues that the findings from ground-level research by African institutions should play a greater role in the shaping of resource governance frameworks on the continent. He also contends that these initiatives should engage more with global and multilateral resource governance mechanisms. Finally, he states that these initiatives need to enhance their technical capabilities and ensure that they do not duplicate the work of other initiatives.
