This journal features articles that address a wide variety of different topics on the nature of conflict, with a particular focus on counter-insurgency and the changing character of warfare. Some of the topics covered in this issue include 1) the extent to which the interests of Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood overlap with those of the US; 2) security and governance challenges created by rapid urbanization in large cities; 3) Hezbollah's involvement in the Syrian civil war and how this affects the group's political influence in Lebanon; 4) India and Pakistan’s response to the 2008 Mumbai attacks; and 5) Clausewitz description of the fundamental nature of war and how it can be used to understand the military strategies of WWI.
