This brief discusses the impact of climate change on dryland forests in Southern Africa. To prevent further degradation of these forests, the author highlights the importance of implementing policies that, among others things, incorporate 1) full-cost accounting of natural capital; 2) investing in restoration of degraded systems; and 3) real-time research and monitoring.
