This paper discusses the Eurasian Economic Union, which is due to come into effect in January 2015 between Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia. More specifically, the authors examine 1) the origins of the union; 2) the intensive integration which has already taken place between the countries who will be members; 3) the potential for further expansion of the union and the risks this could entail; and 4) future prospects for the union.
