This report explains the variety of environmental services tropical forests provide with regard to weather patterns, freshwater, natural disasters, biodiversity, food, and human health, as well as the science underlying how these ecosystem services are provided. This report also addresses the implications of tropical deforestation and degradation and briefly highlights the key elements needed to protect tropical forests in the future.
