This paper argues for the greater use of peer review mechanisms by African countries to monitor the progress of other African countries on governance and national development priorities. The author argues that although the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) already in place has focused mainly on national-level implementation, with careful planning and strong leadership, this could be supplemented by reports on the efforts of African countries to fulfill their regional commitments.
