This brief discusses the Ivory Coast's regional diplomacy initiatives since the 1990s. The author presents the diplomatic gains made under presidents Houphouët-Boigny and Ouattara as well as major challenges to the country's diplomatic goals, such as the realization of regional and internal stability. To enhance the Ivory Coast's national reconciliation, the author recommends an improvement of the training, development and specialization of diplomats, and the establishment of conferences of ambassadors to evaluate the country’s diplomatic activities.
