This journal features articles that address a wide variety of different topics on the nature of conflict, with a particular focus on islamic fundamentalism, organized crime, counterinsurgency and terrorism. Some of the topics covered in this issue include 1) US Special Forces Operations in Central Africa; 2) how narratives characterize discourses on extremism; 3) an extremist leader's war fighting style; 4) a counter insurgency strategy employed by the South Vietnamese during the Vietnam War; 5) the role of women in conflict and stability operations; 6) the prospective for Iraqi Kurds gaining independence and 7) the increasing trend of foreign fighters traveling to Syria to join the Islamic State.
