Following a visit by Kazakh President Nazarbayev to China in May 2014, this paper argues that although Kazakhstan's attempts to rebalance its foreign policy towards China could bring benefits in terms of economy and security, Astana will likely continue to pursue a multi-vector foreign policy to avoid leaning on any one power.
