This brief contends that although drug production is a significant factor in widespread environmental degradation, a lack of reliable data makes it difficult to pinpoint the extent of this damage. The authors therefore argue that future research should be directed at illuminating the connections between organized crime and environmental crime, in order to devise appropriate strategies to tackle these issues in tandem.
