This analysis examines how the deployment of lethal autonomous weapons systems (LAWS) might negatively impact international law and arms control efforts in the future. The fundamental question, of course, is how removed human beings should be from dictating when and how to use these weapons. At a minimum, the question needs to be further debated within the context of the UN Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons, the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) or three other existing frameworks.
