This journal features articles that address a wide variety of different topics on the nature of conflict, with a particular focus on Islamic fundamentalism, organized crime, counterinsurgency and terrorism. Some of the topics covered in this issue include 1) the role of conflict minerals and artisanal mining in fueling conflicts in Africa; 2) how the US can combat Mexican drug cartels; 3) the massive influx of foreign fighters who have come to fight in the civil war in Syria since 2011; and 4) the importance of maintaining rule of law in US military operations.
