This paper provides an overview of how the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), which is a voluntary assessment tool instituted by African heads of state in 2003 to promote good governance and sustainable development on the continent, has worked in the case of Nigeria. The author then examines what lessons can be learned from the application of the APRM to Nigeria.
