Some of the specific topics covered include 1) the role of external support for the outcome of counterinsurgency; 2) how military history can help understand modern war; 3) how combat training in the US army can be improved through more emphasis on psychological approaches; and 4) how US policy makers and strategists need to have a better understanding of what constitutes unconventional warfare.
