This paper discusses how China views Russia's “Go East” strategy, which involves Moscow taking a more active economic and geopolitical interest in the country's eastern regions. The author explains that China's foreign policy elite are suggesting a policy of maximizing China’s economic gains from Russia’s "Go East" strategy, while seeking to avoid too strong political ties which might engender risks for China’s relations to its main markets in the US and Europe.
