This paper looks at how Kenyans perceive the democratic transition in their county that started in 1991, and at whether they believe that this process has brought them any benefits. The authors contend that despite two decades of democratization in Kenya the levels of popular satisfaction with the country's democracy have rapidly declined since 2003. They suggest that one reason for this decline could be that the transition has not yielded tangible economic benefits for the majority of Kenya's population.
