Following the 2014 NATO summit in Wales, this article examines how the US pivot towards Asia will affect NATO’s ability to defend the European continent and manage instability in the Middle East. The author argues that Alliance member states will now have to commit more resources to their eastern member-states, work closely with US allies in the Pacific region, and enhance cooperation with Asian powers.
