This paper discusses what lens should be used in order to interpret Europe’s history over the last two centuries. The authors contend that a geopolitical one isn’t enough. Instead, they think we need to use a ‘meta geopolitical’ lens that accounts for strengths and capabilities that go far beyond a state’s military prowess.
