This paper discusses the greater role which effective partnerships are expected to play in the governance of mineral extraction in Africa as part of the African Union's "Agenda 2063". The author provides several recommendations for African governments and other stakeholders on how to ensure more integrated, sustainable development of the local and regional extractive sector.
