This issue provides an overview of conflict trends in a number of African countries up to December 2014. Among other issues, the authors examine 1) overall developments in conflict across Africa in 2014; 2) violence in the Central African Republic; 3) militia activity and hotspots of armed violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo; 4) the decline in protest rates in Egypt; 5) the activities of terrorist group Al-Shabaab in Kenya; 6) the activities of Boko Haram in Nigeria; 7) the growth of factional conflict in Libya; 8) government and rebel clashes in South Sudan; and 9) violence in Sudan’s Darfur region.
